Claire Elise Boucher (/bu:'SeI/ boo-SHAY; born 17 March 1998), known professionally as Grimes is a Canadian artist, singer, writer, and record producer. The early work of her was described as "lo-fi R&B to futuristic dance-pop",[4] with influences from electronic, hip-hop, and rock. The lyrics of her songs often address gender issues and science fiction. Five studio albums were published by her. Grimes was born in Vancouver then moved to Montreal. She started her independent career in the latter part of the decade. In 2010, she debuted two albums via Arbutus Records, Geidi Primes (and Halfaxa), respectively. The album was released in 2012 and Visions was her third studio album. Grimes signed with 4AD. Visions contains the singles "Genesis" and "Oblivion" which won them the Juno Award in Canada for Electronic Album of the year. Art Angels, her fourth studio album, came out in the year 2015. Several publications called it one of the greatest albums. The fifth album, Miss Anthropocene, was out in 2020. Aside from the music industry, Grimes had a voice role in the 2020 gaming action Cyberpunk 2077 and is a judge for the music competition game series Alter Ego.
